Clinical Staff
Our practice consists of Ricardo J. Fernandez, MD and Raquel
Rahim, Advanced Practice Nurse, specializing in psychiatry.
Each clinician has almost 30 years of psychiatric experience.
All patient care is directly supervised by Dr. Fernandez. All
patients are seem by Dr. Fernandez for evaluations and/or
follow-up. Ms. Rahim is trained and licensed by the State of
New Jersey to evaluate and treat patients and has the ability to
write medication prescriptions within her psychiatric specialty.
Ricardo J. Fernandez, MD, ABPN, ABAP, DFAPA,  is board
certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology (1986). He is also
certified in psychopharmacology by the Neuroscience Education Institute
(NEI) and the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology (ASCP).
Additionally he is certified in addiction medicine by the American Board of
Addiction Medicine (ABAM) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine
(ASAM). He is the Medical Director of Princeton Family Care Associates, LLC.

Among his areas of expertise are clinical diagnosis, advanced psycho-
pharmacology, women’s reproductive psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry, and
addiction medicine. He is also an expert on psychiatric aspects pertinent to
professional licensing and serves as a consultant for numerous consumer
state licensing boards and professional assistant programs.

Dr. Fernandez is a recognized expert in the area of women’s mental health
and has spoken regionally and nationally on the subject. He is published on
the clinical management of Postpartum Depression. In 2005 he was
appointed by Acting Governor, Richard Codey to serve on the New Jersey
State Postpartum Depression Work Group where he chaired the
Professional Education Committee. The mandate for this committee was to
prepare a statewide program of education on Postpartum Depression for the
wide variety of clinicians that are called on to treat patients with psychiatric
illnesses during pregnancy or in the postpartum. This program was then
instituted statewide in regional training workshops.

Appointed by former Governor Christine Todd Whitman, Dr. Fernandez also
served on the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners, the state
licensing board for medical professionals, working on a number of diverse
committees. He is a past councilor on the New Jersey Psychiatric
Association (NJPA), the state branch of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Fernandez now serves on the NJPA Ethics and Fellowship Committees.
He was awarded the Distinguished Fellowship of the American Psychiatric
Association in 2004 for his many contributions in the field of Psychiatry.

He is fluently bilingual in Spanish and English and sees patients in the
Princeton, NJ and Willow Grove, PA offices.

Raquel Rahim, MSN, APRN, BC is board certified as a Psychiatric
Advanced Practice Nurse and a member of the Nursing Honor Society,
Sigma Theta Tau.  Ms. Rahim has 32 years experience in Mental Health. She
worked in a variety of psychiatric settings including inpatient and crisis.

Ms. Rahim has worked closely with Dr. Fernandez since 1992 and at PFCA
since 2003. She has a number of areas of specialty including adult and
adolescent psychiatry, working with the chemically psychiatric impaired,
trauma and persons with persistent and severe mental illness.

Ms. Rahim has held teaching responsibilities at UMDNJ School of Nursing.
She has lectured on various areas of psychiatry including psychopharma
-
cology, cultural compentency in the clinical setting, Fluid Intoxication, Tardive
Dyskinesia
, Borderline Personality Disorder, health issues of persons with
severe and persistent mental illness, Postpartum, Addictions and Families
dealing with a loved one with Mental Illness.
 

Ms Rahim is fluent in Spanish and English
